Surf Punta del Este
ES – Punta del Este es un lugar con una gran variedad de playas que son aptas para realizar este deporte durante todo el año.
Gracias a la geografía del balneario, sus playas reciben los mares con casi todas las orientaciones y ofrece numerosas posibilidades con olas, swells y vientos bien diferentes, dando al surfista una variedad de opciones para elegir.
Algunas de las playas más conocidas son:
Punta del Chileno: Tras pasar la Punta de la Ballena por la Ruta Interbalnearia, ésta es la primera playa con buen oleaje que se ve desde la carretera. Por su tamaño pequeño, Punta del Chileno no es la más popular para surfear, aunque tenga condiciones muy especiales para el deporte. La playa recibe los vientos fuertes del este que dan de frente a su formación rocosa; lo cual junto a un buen swell del sudeste, genera una ola de un metro de alto con cincuenta metros de largo sobre las rocas. Hacia el lado de Punta Ballena, se puede surfear con viento del norte o con el viento veraniego del nordeste, cuando el swell viene del sur.
El Emir: Es la segunda playa del lado oceánico y la preferida por los surfistas, que llegan de todas partes en invierno y verano. Está protegida de los vientos por una rambla alta, ofreciendo potentes olas hacia la izquierda o derecha, según la dirección del swell. Por sus aguas profundas y grandes olas, no se recomienda para bañistas; así que los surfistas tienen el mar a disposición todo el año. Cuando hay swell del este El Emir es muy procurada por los amantes del surf.
La Olla: Es un popular punto surfista sobre la Playa Brava, donde ola empieza a quebrar sobre las rocas abriendo una izquierda que puede alcanzar los 200 metros de largo, con vientos norte, noroeste y oeste. Puede mantenerse con buena formación hasta dos metros de altura. Frente al Parador La Olla, en la parada 3 y ½ sobre la Rambla, hay una tienda y escuela de surf, SunValley, que abre todo el año.
La Plage: Dependiendo del viento, tiene buenas olas izquierdas y derechas que pueden alcanzar hasta los dos metros de altura. En verano, es uno de los puntos de encuentro más populares de la costa brava.
La Barra: Tiene excelentes condiciones cuando el swell viene del sur. Se forman olas de muy diversos tipos por el caudal de agua del Arroyo Maldonado, que moviliza los bancos de arena. Según el movimiento de los bancos y la dirección del viento, se pueden producir olas tubulares o con paredes altas y lisas, dando lugar a variedad de maniobras en sus picos constantes. Hay bastante gente en el agua, pero eso no impide surfear tranquilamente.
Montoya: Es otra de las playas famosas, ubicada luego de La Barra, en el comienzo del corredor oceánico de arenas que termina en José Ignacio. Es una playa ancha de olas fuertes y altas, con fondo de arena. Tiene ola tanto izquierda como derecha de hasta dos metros de altura. El swell es del este y sudeste. Con crowd constante durante el verano, Montoya es escenario frecuente de una de las etapas del Campeonato Mundial de Surf.
Bikini: Una de las razones por las que esta playa es el hot point juvenil de la temporada es su excelente condición para el surf. Bikini tiene olas de gran tamaño, fáciles de acceder por la buena visualización que se tiene del pico. Su drop sobre las rocas genera olas bien definidas, a veces tubulares. Es posible recorrer la ola prácticamente hasta la orilla del mar, a lo largo de 200 metros. Su mejor swell es del sudeste, con vientos del norte o noroeste.
El Pepe: gracias a los bancos rasos que genera la desembocadura de la Laguna José Ignacio, esta playa ubicada a pocos kilómetros de José Ignacio es ideal para aquellos surfistas que disfrutan de las olas tubulares. Esta playa funciona mejor con vientos del cuadrante norte y los swells provenientes del Sur, o Sur – Este.

Punta del Este offers a wide range of beaches that are suitable for surfing throughout the year. Due to the geography of the resort, its beaches receive the seas from almost every direction, so there are many different types of waves, swells and winds for the surfer to choose.
Some of the most popular beaches are:
Punta del Chileno: it is the first small beach beside Punta Ballena. Strong east winds, together with good southeast swell mean one meter and a half wave..
El Emir: it is the second beach by the ocean side and the one the surfers love the most. It is protected from the winds by a high boardwalk, so there are strong waves to the left or the right, according to the swell direction. Due to the deep waters and big waves it is not recommended for bathers, so surfers own it all year round.
La Olla: it is a popular surf spot on Brava beach, where 2 meters high waves break on the rocks. There is also a surf shop and a surf school open year- round.
La Plage: Depending on the wind, there are good left and right waves that can reach heights of two meters. During the summer, it is one of the most popular meeting points of the Brava beach.
La Barra: it has excellent surf conditions when the swell comes from the south. Very different types of waves are formed because of the water flow of the Maldonado Stream, which moves the sandbars. According to the movements of the sandbars and the wind direction, tubular waves, high – walled wales or smooth waves may form, ideal for many surfing maneuvers.
Montoya: it is another famous beach, located beside La Barra, along the ocean corridor up to José Ignacio. There are strong and high waves, with sandy bottom, of about two meters, left or right. The swell is from the east and southeast. With a dense crowd during the summer, Montoya is the frequent place of one of the stages of the World Surfing Championship.
Bikini: it is the cool meeting point of young people as it is great for surfing. There are big waves easy to ride as the peak of the wave can be easily seen. The waves are sometimes tubular. It is possible to go across the wave almost up to the shore along 200 meters. Its best swell is from the southeast, with north or northwest winds.
El Pepe: because of low sandbars generated by the mouth of José Ignacio Lagoon, this beach, located a few kilometers from José Ignacio, is ideal for surfers who love tubular waves. The winds are from the north quadrant and the swells come from the south, southeast.

Punta del Este é um lugar com uma grande variedade de praias que são ótimas para este esporte durante todo o ano.
Graças à geografia do local , suas praias recebem os mares com quase todas as orientações e oferecem inúmeras possibilidades com ondas, ondas e ventos muito diferentes, dando ao surfista uma variedade de opções para escolher.
Algumas das praias mais conhecidas são:
Piedras del Chileno: Depois de passar a Punta Ballena ao longo da Ruta Interbalnearia, esta é a primeira praia com boas ondas que podem ser vistas desde a estrada. Por causa de seu pequeno tamanho, Piedras del Chileno não é o mais popular para o surf, embora tenha condições muito especiais para esportes. A praia recebe fortes ventos do leste que enfrentam sua formação rochosa; que, juntamente com uma boa ondulação do sudeste, gera uma onda de um metro de altura e cinquenta metros de comprimento sobre as rochas.
